Foo Fighters have scored their 13th No. 1 hit with “Asking for a Friend.” This is their second chart-topper of the year. The song leads the Billboard chart dated Nov. 29, racking up 5.7 million audience impressions in the week ending Nov. 20, a 6% increase from the previous week.
“Asking for a Friend” knocked Sublime’s “Ensenada” off the top spot after it dominated for 10 weeks. Before that, Foo Fighters’ “Today’s Song” held the No. 1 position for eight weeks from July to September. With this latest achievement, Foo Fighters now have more No. 1 hits than any other band since the chart began in 2009. Green Day and Linkin Park follow closely with eight No. 1s each, while Cage the Elephant and Twenty One Pilots have six.
This is also the first No. 1 for drummer Ilan Rubin, who joined the band in July, taking over from Josh Freese. “Asking for a Friend” has also reached No. 2 on another chart and held steady at No. 5 on yet another. On the multimetric chart dated Nov. 22, the track sits at No. 8, reflecting data from Nov. 7 to 13, with 494,000 official U.S. streams during that time.
The combination of radio airplay and streaming helped boost the song’s rankings. Foo Fighters released “Asking for a Friend” as a standalone single and announced their 2026 Take Cover Tour for next summer. Fans can look forward to more great music and live shows from the band!
