Foo Fighters may be hinting at a performance at Download Festival. The band, which has been around since the 1990s, has never played this iconic UK event. During a recent chat with DJ Sophie K, the topic of Download came up, and lead singer Dave Grohl seemed surprised. “Really? There are so many great bands,” he said.
Sophie K pointed out that fans often discuss the band’s absence from the festival on message boards. “Everyone wants you to play, especially with this new album coming out,” she mentioned, referring to their upcoming 12th studio release. Grohl looked at his bandmates and said, “Maybe we should do it! … Maybe it’s time.” He called a Download performance “overdue.” While no current member has played at Donington, Grohl did perform there in 2010 with Them Crooked Vultures.
Fans went wild after the interview. One fan tweeted, “Been saying this for like 15 years, how have they not played THE UK rock & metal festival???” Another added, “Sophie K making things happen!!”
The band’s new album, *Your Favorite Toy*, is set to debut on April 24. It follows their 2023 release, *But Here We Are*, and includes last year’s single, “Asking For A Friend.” The title track was shared on February 19, and they performed it live for the first time on *The Graham Norton Show*. They also surprised fans with a show in Dublin on February 23, where they played new material.
This year, the Foo Fighters will tour UK and European stadiums. They have North American dates planned for summer and fall, while fans in Australia and New Zealand will have to wait until late 2026 and 2027 for shows. Stay tuned for more updates!
