Ozzy Osbourne’s final bow is getting the big-screen treatment, and the people who knew him best gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the Prince of Darkness one more time. The world premiere of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning took place Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the historic Orpheum Theatre, per The Daily Breeze. Sharon and Jack Osbourne hosted the event. It brought together family, friends, and some of rock and metal’s biggest names for a night honoring Ozzy’s extraordinary legacy.
The film captures the legendary singer’s farewell performance on July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, his hometown. Just 17 days later, Ozzy died at 76. So this was a poignant final chapter in a career that helped change heavy music forever.
The night also marked a historic reunion for Black Sabbath’s original lineup. Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward shared the stage together for the first time in more than 20 years, giving fans one last chance to see the musicians who helped lay the groundwork for heavy metal.
The purple carpet for the event was packed with familiar faces from across the rock world, including Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, KISS bassist Gene Simmons, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, and Tool drummer Danny Carey. David Ellefson, Rudy Sarzo, and members of Quiet Riot were also among those attending.
The premiere also carried a charitable element, with a limited number of tickets made available to the public. Half of the proceeds were set to benefit homeless charities in the Los Angeles area, according to Hennemusic.com.
Running approximately two and a half hours, the film documents a massive, 10-hour celebration of heavy music organized by musical director Tom Morello and hosted by actor Jason Momoa. The festival featured tribute performances from major acts, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and Tool.
For fans, Back to the Beginning is more than a final concert. It captures a last gathering around an artist whose music helped define heavy metal.
