Queens of the Stone Age put out their ninth album, Perfecth, on Friday through Matador Records. It runs about 36 minutes and includes nine songs.
The band shared the closing track, “Run Away From The Mob,” with a lyric video. Dave Grohl plays drums on it. The group first recorded the song in 2013, but Josh Homme said in a statement that he couldn’t finish it until now.
“It’s a letter, a last one, addressed to an oldest son – ‘if you’re reading this, everything went wrong, and here’s what you have to do’. The end is the sound of a father standing behind his son,” Josh Homme said, according to Blunt.
Three singles came out first: “Where The Goth Girls At?,” “Insignificant Other,” and “Easy Street.” The album takes its theme from kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, DIY Mag reveals. Love of family and friends runs through the songs.
This album follows 2023’s In Times New Roman…. In 2024, the band played an acoustic show in the Catacombs of Paris, and that night became the film Alive in the Catacombs. This summer, they toured Europe with System of a Down and North America with Foo Fighters.
The Perfecth World Tour 2027 starts May 1 at Viejas Arena in San Diego. Pixies and Wheelchair Sports Camp join the North American dates. Stops include May 2 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, May 12 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, and May 24 at TD Garden in Boston.
Australia gets six shows in December, with Primus and Tropical Fk Storm along for the ride.
Fans can find North American tickets at qotsa.com/tour. The album is on streaming services, and the band’s online store sells a physical copy.
