Rush announced a five-date residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, giving fans another opportunity to experience their iconic music in a spectacular new setting.
Dubbed “Elevate From The Norm,” the residency will bring Rush to the massive entertainment venue on May 21, 23, 26, 28 and 30, 2027.
Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will lead the performances alongside drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold. Together, they will deliver a career-spanning set celebrating Rush’s music, legacy and the life of their late drummer and lyricist, Neil Peart.
Rush Is Bringing Its Legendary Music to the Sphere
The upcoming residency will build on the band’s ongoing Fifty Something tour, which marked Lee and Lifeson’s return to the road following more than a decade away from touring.
However, the Sphere presents an entirely different opportunity for the musicians. Known for its enormous wraparound LED display and advanced immersive sound system, the Las Vegas venue gives artists plenty of room to experiment with their live productions.
Lee admitted that he initially thought Rush had missed its chance to perform at the venue when he first learned about it.
“When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, ‘Wow, what a shame that RUSH is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor-made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,'” the bassist and vocalist said.
Now that the band has returned to touring, Lee sees the residency as an opportunity to bring its ambitious visual concepts to life.
He also teased that Rush plans to expand its touring production and create something new specifically for the venue.
“We are so effin’ excited to make use of this incredible opportunity to please our fans both visually and viscerally,” Lee added.
Fans Can Expect Full Performances of ‘2112’ and ‘Moving Pictures’
Lee revealed that the Sphere performances will follow the format of some of the band’s special one-off shows, which feature complete performances of classic albums alongside additional selections from its catalog.
That means fans can look forward to hearing all of 2112 and all of Moving Pictures, alongside a collection of other Rush favorites.
Both albums remain essential releases in the band’s extensive catalogue.
Released in 1976, 2112 helped establish Rush as one of progressive rock’s most ambitious acts. Moving Pictures followed in 1981 and delivered some of the group’s most recognizable songs, including “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight,” and “YYZ.”
The shows will also continue Rush’s heartfelt celebration of Peart, who died in January 2020. His contributions as the band’s drummer and lyricist remain central to its identity and musical legacy.
Rush Backstage and newsletter subscribers will receive an exclusive two-hour window to purchase VIP and travel packages on November 6, beginning at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
