Bono and The Edge Team with DJ Martin Garrix for Official Euro 2020 Song

Bono and The Edge have teamed with popular Dutch DJ Martin Garrix on a new track that will act as the official song for the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament.

Due out May 14, the song is called “We Are The People We’ve Been Waiting For.” U.K.’s The Sun reports Bono and The Edge are currently in London to record a video for the track.

This collaboration is the first piece of new music released by anyone in the U2 camp since November 2019 when the band released ‘Ahimsa.’ This was a collaboration with Indian artist A.R. Rahman in honor of U2 performing in India for the first time in their career when they were touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Joshua Tree.

Euro 2020 is the upcoming soccer tournament organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA.) It was originally set to take place last year, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, hence its 2020 name. The UEFA European Football Championship, like the World Cup, takes place every four years.
