Foo Fighters received big news today with the announcement they will be part of the 2021 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In true Foo fashion, their response was funny and kind of perfect.
The band shared to the social media channels a graphic listing the entire 2021 Rock Hall class along with the caption (and a nod to guitarist Pat Smear), “Holy s—! The guitar player from The Germs is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!”

Of the six performer inductees, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, JAY-Z, and Tina Turner are all first-ballot inductees, meaning they were inducted after being nominated one time. Foo Fighters and JAY-Z have the distinction of being inducted in their first year of eligibility.
Foo Fighters were also one of three acts to be counted on the Rock Hall’s Fans’ Ballot along with The Go-Go’s and Tina Turner.
As previously reported, the Rock Hall is planning on an in-person induction ceremony with fans taking place on Saturday, October 30 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse arena in Cleveland. Tickets are expected to go on sale in July. The 2021 Induction Ceremony will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max at a later date.
