This Day in Rock History: October 23

October 23 is big for music fans. On this day in 1961, Bob Dylan released his first single, a step that started his long, influential career. In 1966, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played one of their early U.S. shows, helping Hendrix build his legend. And in 1969, Led Zeppelin hit the stage in a set that helped define their raw, heavy sound.

October 23 is also an anniversary for Def Leppard. In 2014, the band broke records with three massive shows that drew huge crowds. These concerts showed how much the band still connects with fans decades into their career.

These events span decades but share one thing: they changed music and stayed in fans’ memories. From folk and blues to hard rock and stadium shows, October 23 has a place in rock history. Fans still talk about these moments. They remind us why we love live music and why certain nights become legendary.
