Justin Bieber, The Tragically Hip, And More To Perform At Juno Awards

Justin Bieber will perform at the 50th Juno Awards broadcast in his native Canada on June 6. It will mark the first time he has appeared on the Junos since 2010. Bieber is nominated for five awards at this year’s event―album of the year and pop album of the year for Changes, single of the year for “Intentions” (featuring Quavo), artist of the year, and the Juno fan choice award.

Other acts set to appear include Canadian music mainstays The Tragically Hip, who will be performing alongside Feist, which The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced today. The June 6 show will mark the first televised performance by The Tragically Hip since frontman Gord Downie died in 2017. Downie was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, in 2015.

“It’s been such a difficult year for our fellow musicians, we wanted to do something to honor them in a way that would make Gord smile,” the band was quoted as saying in a press release. The group is also slated to receive the humanitarian award, which will be presented by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush. The Tragically Hip are 15-time Juno winners and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees.

The 50th Juno Awards will be broadcast throughout Canada on Sunday, June 6 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, and CBC Listen. They’ll air globally on CBCMusic.ca/junos. The show will be livestreamed on CBC Music’s TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.

Jann Arden, who is being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, will perform from her hometown at Calgary’s Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre. Anne Murray is set to induct Arden. The full line-up of performers and presenters for the anniversary broadcast will be unveiled on Thursday, May 27.
