J Balvin Announces New Album, Drops Electric New Single, ‘Que Locura’

J Balvin has announced that his highly anticipated fifth studio album, José, will arrive September 10. Coinciding with the announcement, Balvin is sharing a new single, “Que Locura,” which arrives with a Jose Sagaro / Film Headz-directed music video.

The new single and album announcement come in the middle of a massive summer for Balvin with the recent release of three viral singles, “In Da Ghetto,” featuring Skrillex, “Qué Más Pues?” featuring Argentinian singer María Becerra, and his remix of “Poblado” by Crissin, Totoy El Frio, Natan Y Shander with Karol G and Nicky Jam that are dominating the modern Latin Music market and global charts.

His most recent single, “In Da Ghetto,” has also been experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity on TikTok since its release in July. Earlier this week, Balvin received nine nominations for the upcoming Billboard Latin Awards, including Composer of the Year and Artist of the Year. The summer success is on the heels of “Otra Noche Sin Ti,” Balvin’s collaboration with Khalid, which reached No.1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Latin Rhythm charts, marking a historic 29th No.1 Latin song for the artist―the most No.1s of any Latin artist.

José follows Balvin’s last solo effort, 2020’s highly praised album Colores, which peaked at No.15 on the US Billboard 200 chart and No.2 on the US Top Latin Albums chart. Rolling Stone stated, “Colores is a sophisticated show of Balvin’s sonic palette” and The New York Times claimed Colores as “a shiny reaffirmation of the steps that have made the reggaeton revival part of the broader global pop conversation.”

Earlier this week, Balvin launched his campaign with Miller Lite, Es José Time, which features brightly colored, limited-edition cans designed in collaboration with Balvin himself and a video showcasing Balvin’s human side, sans the bright lights of stardom. Es José Time also features an online contest with prizes including Balvin-designed water bottles, decks of cards, sunglasses, and koozies.

Pre-order José.
