Jimmy Page on Why He Turned Down Appearing on Ozzy Osbourne’s New LP

Jimmy Page turned down an offer to appear on the new album from Ozzy Osbourne, and now we know why.

Page told Classic Rock (as transcribed by NME), “I will never be one of those people who’ll record alone and send someone a file. I never went into music in the first place to do that – it was for playing together.”

The Prince of Darkness announced on April 9 via social media, “I’m so happy to let everyone know that I finished my new album this week and delivered it to my label @EpicRecords. I’ll be sharing all the information about the album and its’ upcoming release with you in the next several weeks.”

The album, a follow-up to 2020’s Ordinary Man, features an all-star lineup of guests including Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, Tony Iommi, Zakk Wylde, Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam.

As previously reported, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith said on Talk Is Jericho, “We tried to get Jimmy Page — we tried to get the holy trinity — but I don’t think Page plays anymore too much, unfortunately.” (Clapton, Beck and Page are all former members of the Yardbirds).
