In a brand-new interview with Remzi "Jam Man" Yates of Rocking With Jam Man, Filter mastermind Richard Patrick opened up about the evolution of his project and provided a deep dive into the band's upcoming follow-up to 2023's The Algorithm, tentatively titled "The Antidote". Hoping for a release early next year, Patrick framed the upcoming album as a direct response to their last record, stating that while The Algorithm highlighted the problem, The Antidote is stepping in with the solution.

Fans can expect the new record to pull from every distinct era of Filter's 30-year history, delivering a blend of devastatingly heavy industrial elements alongside bright, acoustic-driven melodies. Patrick revealed that the album's opening track, "Snakes In The Grass"—which the band has already been road-testing live—was written entirely by himself and sounds like their platinum 1995 debut Short Bus colliding with a sampler. Conversely, the record will also features collaborations with close friend and songwriter Sam Tinnesz on tracks titled "Hell In My Head" and "Panic Mode". Patrick noted that he ultimately writes music to blow his own mind rather than adhering to audience expectations, but acknowledges that he deliberately aims to capture all sides of his fanbase—from the raw, political anger of "Hey Man Nice Shot" to the vulnerable, melodic atmosphere of "Take A Picture".

Are you looking forward to hearing Filter's heavy industrial roots mix with their softer side on the new record?
Shinedown frontman Brent Smith has opened up about his highly unique living situation, describing himself as a "true minimalist" who hasn't owned a physical home in a decade. Speaking in a new interview with LA Lloyd for the LA Lloyd Rock 30, the multi-platinum rock vocalist explained that he lives 24/7 as a nomad out of hotel rooms and suitcases, moving wherever the band's touring and business demands require. Smith, who previously owned a home in Thousand Oaks, California, from 2010 to 2016, revealed that his mother perfectly captured his lifestyle choice to skeptical onlookers early on, famously stating, "He’s not homeless. He’s home free."

While his Shinedown bandmates—bassist Eric Bass, guitarist Zach Myers, and drummer Barry Kerch—all maintain standard home bases, Smith thrives on the ability to pick up and travel across the globe at a moment's notice. He holds roots in Florida to spend time with his son, frequently visits Nashville, and downsized his suitcases to travel as lightly as possible. "I don't own stuff," Smith confessed, adding that he only saves items sent to the band by fans. The lifestyle shift keeps him perfectly nimble as Shinedown navigates a massive era following the release of their ninth studio album, Ei8ht, which arrived on May 29th via Atlantic Records. The band is currently gearing up for their colossal 54-date "Dance, Kid, Dance Act II" world tour, crossing 11 countries alongside major supporting acts like Coheed and Cambria, Black Stone Cherry, and From Ashes To New.

Could you ever see yourself ditching a traditional home base to live completely "home free" on the open road?

International metal heavyweights Cavalera Conspiracy have officially dropped out of today's scheduled performance at Hellfest Open Air in Clisson, France, following a terrifying tour bus accident yesterday. The band, led by the legendary Max and Iggor Cavalera, issued an emotional statement revealing that they narrowly escaped catastrophic tragedy, explicitly crediting their driver's elite skill behind the wheel for preventing what easily could have been a "deadly bus crash."

While the band members and crew are profoundly relieved to walk away from the wreckage with their lives, stating that "it could have been so much worse," the infrastructure and logistical damage from the collision has made making it to the festival stage impossible. The group expressed that they are completely devastated to miss bringing their special celebration of the classic Sepultura album Chaos A.D. to their French fanbase. Apologizing to the thousands of traveling metalheads at the festival ground, the band concluded on a hopeful note, adding, "we hope to be able to return with our Chaos in the future."

France's annual Hellfest Open Air festival has unveiled a poignant, ornate tribute to pioneering heavy metal icon Brent Hinds on the festival grounds in Clisson. The intricate, stained-glass-styled memorial honors the former Mastodon vocalist and guitarist, whose free-spirited life was tragically cut short at the age of 51 following a motorcycle accident on August 20, 2025. The striking visual tribute was recently showcased to fans by his longtime former bandmate, Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher.

Hinds' immense legacy spans over two decades of genre-defining progressive metal and sludge rock, co-founding and anchoring Mastodon through historic milestones. A relentless creative force, his musical footprints also extended into dynamic side projects including Fiend Without A Face, West End Motel, and Giraffe Tongue Orchestra. Though Hinds and Mastodon had gone through a rocky, bitter split in the months immediately preceding his death, the remaining members have openly set differences aside to honor his unparalleled artistry—both by spotlighting his new memorial installation at Hellfest and through the recent release of their emotional tribute single, "Your Ghost Again."

What is your all-time favorite Brent Hinds riff or vocal performance from his legendary catalog?

Intergalactic shock metal titans GWAR have once again found themselves at the center of a political firestorm after a video clip of their latest concert stunt went viral on social media. During the band's performance at last weekend's Vans Warped Tour stop in Washington, D.C., the band executed their long-running tradition of decapitating and disemboweling an over-the-top, cartoonish effigy of current U.S. President Donald J. Trump, sending simulated blood spraying over the crowd. The performance immediately ignited severe backlash from right-wing supporters and MAGA influencers on X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, with critics accusing the band of inciting violence and engaging in "demonic" behavior.

While some online critics claimed the band would never target Democratic leaders, GWAR has spent over forty years cartoonishly disposing of figures across the political aisle, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Frontman Mike "Blöthar The Berserker" Bishop addressed the rising cultural tension in a newly published interview with Rocking With Jam Man. Bishop noted that while the band "would kill politicians from both sides of the aisle" for decades with little backlash, the political climate heavily shifted during the Trump administration. He revealed that the band has actually faced severe external financial pressure, state censorship, and corporate pushback from entities like Live Nation following their Trump parodies. When directly pressed on whether the band's mock executions have ever earned them an official visit from the U.S. Secret Service, the vocalist candidly responded, "Well, let’s just say that GWAR is on some lists."

Do you think shock-rock performance art should still be protected under free speech, or do stunts like this cross a line in today's intense political climate?

Today marks the 53rd birthday of alternative metal pioneer Chino Moreno. As the legendary frontman and primary lyricist for Deftones, Moreno has spent nearly four decades redefining the boundaries of heavy music. Fusing crushing, down-tuned aggression with sweeping dream-pop and shoegaze influences, his trademark vocal style—moving effortlessly from a haunting, hypnotic whisper to a piercing, emotional scream—helped craft some of the most enduring rock landscapes of a generation.

From the raw energy of Adrenaline and the seminal shift of Around the Fur to the masterpiece of White Pony and beyond, Moreno’s distinct creative vision pushed Deftones past the constraints of standard nu-metal into a genre entirely of their own. Beyond his massive legacy with the band, his boundless musical appetite has driven acclaimed side projects like ††† (Crosses), Team Sleep, and Palms. Decades into his career, Moreno remains one of the most enigmatic, vital, and celebrated vocalists in the world of alternative rock and metal.

What is your absolute favorite vocal performance or track from Chino Moreno's storied career?

Today, June 19th, marks the 45th birthday of mastermind drummer and visual artist Mario Duplantier. As the foundational rhythmic force behind French progressive eco-metal icons Gojira, Duplantier has rightfully earned a reputation as one of the most technically precise, innovative, and punishing percussionists in modern metal history. Alongside his brother Joe, Mario has spent three decades elevating the extreme metal landscape into a spiritual, eco-conscious art form.

Fusing devastating double-bass speed with intricate polyrhythms, ghost notes, and jazzy structural fills, Duplantier’s unique style has provided the backbone for generation-defining metal masterpieces like From Mars to Sirius, The Way of All Flesh, and Magma. His stunning athleticism behind the kit is legendary—turning live drum solos into jaw-dropping arena staples and helping propel Gojira from the underground of Bayonne to monumental global heights. Beyond his musical genius, he is also a passionate visual painter, infusing the same intense, abstract creativity into his canvas artwork as he does into his drumming.

What is your all-time favorite Mario Duplantier drum performance or Gojira track?

Today, June 19th, marks the 56th birthday of groundbreaking guitarist and songwriter Brian "Head" Welch. As a founding member of the multi-platinum alternative metal powerhouse Korn, Welch fundamentally revolutionized the heavy music landscape in the 1990s and early 2000s. Alongside Munky, his innovative use of down-tuned seven-string guitars, eerie atmospheric textures, and jagged, aggressive riffs created the sonic blueprint for the entire nu-metal genre.

Beyond his immense musical legacy—which also includes fronting his hard-rocking solo outfit Love and Death—Welch's personal journey remains one of the most inspiring and transparent survival stories in rock history. After a high-profile departure from Korn in 2005 to save his life from severe addiction and focus on raising his daughter, his triumphant return to the band in 2013 completely revitalized the group and ecstatic fans worldwide. Decades into his legendary career, Head continues to tour the globe, release crushing new music, and serve as a powerful voice for mental health and resilience in the rock community.

What is your absolute favorite Korn riff or song that Head helped bring to life?

Behemoth have officially returned with the video for "I, Scvlptor," the monumental first single and title track from their upcoming studio release. Dropping on September 4, 2026, the 8-track autonomous record acts as a creative bridge between the band's underground roots and their current modern fire, packaged as a special compilation of rare and unreleased material. The track's visual companion was produced by the acclaimed Polish collective Grupa 13, with striking cover art handled by long-time band collaborator Bartek Rogalewicz.

Frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski described the title track as an epic, heavy piece rooted in the tradition of fan-favorites like "O Father O Satan O Sun!", but one that takes an unexpected, fresh turn. Lyrically, Nergal notes the song serves as a metaphor for the endless, uneven struggle of sculpting one's own identity in the face of mortality. Though not a traditional full-length studio album following their last record, The Shit Ov God, the upcoming collection is highly significant. It features completely new studio tracks, modern re-recordings of '90s underground classics "Rise Of The Blackstorm Of Evil" and "In Thy Pandemaeternum," and massive tribute covers of Venom (featuring Shagrath of Dimmu Borgir) and Bathory (featuring Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ). The package will be available globally via Massacre Records on CD, vinyl, cassette, and box set, with Nuclear Blast handling the digital release.

Which guest feature on the upcoming record are you most excited to hear clash with Behemoth's extreme sound?

Alternative metal titans Bring Me The Horizon delivered a massive surprise for fans during their headlining performance at the opening night of Hellfest Open Air in Clisson, France. The entire festival set was broadcast live across the internet, allowing global audiences to witness a crushing, unexpected duet as Will Ramos, front-man of symphonic deathcore heavyweights Lorna Shore, stormed the stage to guest on the classic Sempiternal anthem "Antivist."

Bring Me The Horizon famously has a running tradition of pulling fans out of the crowd to handle guest vocal duties on that specific track. Frontman Oli Sykes and company played right into that history, bringing Ramos up to the microphone while initially passing him off as just an ordinary concertgoer. However, given that Hellfest is packed to the brim with dedicated metalheads, the thin ruse didn't last long before the crowd recognized the deathcore icon. Once the music kicked in, Ramos unleashed his signature vocal power, sending the festival ground and livestream chat into absolute chaos.

Did you catch the live stream when Will Ramos blindsided the festival crowd?

Beartooth has officially released their brand-new single, "Bullshit." The song's arrival is accompanied by a freshly minted lyric video that was remarkably crafted from scratch in under 24 hours, following a last-minute scramble to purge AI-generated content from their promotional campaign.

The emergency studio session came after a teaser for the track was flagged by the community for containing artificial intelligence elements. Frontman Caleb Shomo revealed that the external artist commissioned for the original project had repeatedly lied to the band, falsely guaranteeing that no AI tools were used to build the visual. Upon uncovering the truth, Beartooth immediately discarded the dishonest artist's work to protect the integrity of their music. Honoring their promise to keep the release on schedule, Shomo's brother, Luke, pulled an immediate all-nighter to hand-design and render a brand-new, human-made replacement clip just in time for the official drop.

What do you think of the heavy new track and the band's lightning-fast turnaround on the video?
