Arctic Monkeys Release First New Song in Four Years

Arctic Monkeys are set to release a new song on January 22 at 3 p.m. GMT. War Child Records made the announcement, sharing that this new track will support children affected by war. They posted on social media, “New track from @arcticmonkeys and more info about our upcoming project to support children living through war.”

A teaser video for the song features a child running into the sea, accompanied by laughter and distorted music in the background. The Sheffield band last released music with their album, *The Car*, in 2022, which reached No. 2 on the charts. They headlined Glastonbury in 2023 and wrapped up their world tour in Ireland that October.

Rumors about new music began earlier this month when War Child hinted at artists working on something special. Since 1995, War Child has produced several benefit albums. The original *Help* compilation included big names like Oasis, Blur, and Radiohead, raising over £1.25 million ($1.67 million) for children in need.

The situation has worsened since then. In 1995, 10 percent of children worldwide faced conflict. Today, that number has nearly doubled to 19 percent, affecting around 520 million children. Right now, one in five children globally risks losing their childhoods to war.

Manager Ian McAndrew mentioned a new compilation at the Music Week Awards in London last year, revealing that James Ford would oversee the album. Ford has worked on nearly all of the band’s records. The band previously performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall to benefit War Child, and that show became a live album, with all proceeds going to the charity.
