Billy Corgan Joins Board of Directors at Chicago’s Lyric Opera House
Billy Corgan, the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He shared his excitement on Instagram, saying, “Thank you to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for the great honor of being invited to join Lyric’s Board of Directors. I aim to make the Lyric, our great opera house of Chicago, the most exciting and dynamic opera house in the world.”
Corgan performed at the Lyric in 2025, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic album, *Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness*. He described those shows as “one of the most exciting moments of my life.”
In a video with his post, Corgan addressed recent comments made by actor Timothée Chalamet about the arts, saying, “If you want to be part of the change, if you want to help restore the arts in America, then you have to lean in and support.”
