Exactly 27 years ago today—on June 15th, 1999—Limp Bizkit unleashed their explosive breakthrough single, "Nookie," forever altering the landscape of alternative rock and cementing nu-metal as a dominant force in mainstream youth culture. Released via Flip/Interscope Records as the lead track for their seminal second studio album, Significant Other, the song propelled frontman Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto, and DJ Lethal from underground rap-metal heavyweights into global, multi-platinum superstars.

Driven by Borland's instantly recognizable, drop-tuned guitar riff, Otto's hip-hop-influenced groove, and Durst's raw, aggressively relatable lyrical hooks, "Nookie" became an inescapable anthem on rock radio and MTV's Total Request Live (TRL). The track's massive success was further amplified by its iconic music video, which featured the band performing on a massive stage in the middle of a packed street block in Long Island City, New York, culminating in Durst's signature crowd-surfing. "Nookie" went on to peak at No. 2 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart and No. 3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, laying the foundational groundwork for Significant Other to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually sell over 7 million copies in the United States alone. Nearly three decades later, the track remains a definitive, nostalgic touchstone of the late-'90s music explosion and a permanent staple of the band's energetic live sets.

Slated for October 31st at the iconic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the special screening will celebrate the off-the-wall comedy’s 37th anniversary in spectacular fashion. For the first time ever, the film's original score will be performed live by a full orchestra, conducted directly by the score’s original composer, John Du Prez.

"I’m so excited to join the great John Du Prez on stage at the Greek to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the 10th anniversary of the release of UHF," Yankovic joked in an official statement. "This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience." Beyond the orchestral cinematic experience, the evening will culminate in an exclusive, live Q&A session featuring Yankovic alongside a lineup of undisclosed surprise guests. Co-written by Yankovic and director Jay Levey, the beloved film follows the chaotic journey of George Newman (Yankovic), a man with an overactive imagination who unexpectedly becomes the manager of a tiny, struggling UHF television station won in a poker game. The slapstick masterpiece features unforgettable performances from Kevin McCarthy, Michael Richards, David Bowe, and Stanley Brock.

Dedicated fans looking to score entry to this unique seasonal event won't have to wait long. A Live Nation ticket pre-sale is officially set to kick off this Wednesday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Linkin Park officially etched their names into the history books on Sunday night, June 14th, delivering a monumental headlining performance to close out the final day of the UK's legendary Download Festival at Donington Park in Leicestershire. While the appearance marked the band’s fifth time topping the bill at the historic rock gather since its inception in 2003, this particular set carried unprecedented cultural significance thanks to the addition of co-lead vocalist Emily Armstrong.

With Armstrong commanding the microphone, Linkin Park officially shattered a major glass ceiling, becoming the first-ever band featuring a frontwoman to headline Download Festival in its 23-year history. The historic milestone instantly went viral across social media the following morning, standing out as a triumphant moment for the band's rejuvenated era. Armstrong officially stepped into the lineup when the group beautifully reformed following a long hiatus after the tragic 2017 passing of Chester Bennington.

The blockbuster UK performance served as a major European anchor for Linkin Park’s massive From Zero World Tour, following previous headlining nights over the weekend from Limp Bizkit and Guns N' Roses. Mike Shinoda, Armstrong, and the rest of the band treated the massive Donington crowd to a sprawling, career-spanning 23-song set list that was meticulously divided across four distinct thematic acts, blending timeless anthems with heavy new material from their latest era. The band will have very little time to rest on their laurels after making history, as their European stadium routing continues immediately with scheduled stops in France on June 16th and Spain on June 19th.

Hip-hop innovator and Beastie Boys co-founder Michael “Mike D” Diamond made a historic, high-energy return to the television screen over the weekend, stopping by the legendary British performance series Later… with Jools Holland. The rare appearance marked Diamond's very first televised musical performance in support of his highly anticipated debut solo album, Thank You, which is officially scheduled to land later this summer on August 28th.

Taking the stage in matching, classic Hello Nasty-era style tracksuits, the 60-year-old rapper fronted his newly formed backing group, the 5D band. The family-fueled collective intimately bridges a generational gap, featuring Mike D's own sons, Skyler and Davis Diamond (who also perform in their own right with the opening act Very Nice Person). Backed by a live instrumentation style that effortlessly channels the Beastie Boys' classic, chaotic formula of hip-hop, funk, and psych-rock, Diamond locked down the studio floor to deliver razor-sharp performances of his two lead solo singles, "Switch Up" and "What We Got." Professional recordings of both tracks are officially available to stream now via the show's YouTube channel.

The upcoming launch of Thank You via Fontana/Capitol Records carries massive emotional and cultural weight for the alternative music landscape. The 13-track record stands as the single first collection of completely original studio material from a Beastie Boys member since the group permanently disbanded in 2012 following the tragic passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch. Speaking on the program about the long-awaited project, Diamond opened up about navigating a long period of heavy grief before finding therapeutic healing in the studio with his kids. "The way I describe the record is that musically it’s still pretty immature, and lyrically it’s a little bit more mature," Diamond noted in a recent reflection. "I just feel like there’s more of the things I had to tap into. I had to learn how to feel all over again."

Acclaimed rock and metal drummer Jay Weinberg is celebrating a massive new milestone off the stage, having welcomed his very first child with his wife, Chloe. The powerhouse musician broke the heartwarming news via social media yesterday, June 14th, sharing an intimate carousel post on Instagram featuring the couple holding their newborn daughter.

"Hey you, with the pretty face…welcome to the human race!" Weinberg joyfully wrote in the caption, fondly channeling the classic Electric Light Orchestra anthem "Mr. Blue Sky." He added, "Mom and baby are healthy and doing great. We’re so thankful for the love and encouragement from our friends and loved ones, and over the moon with excitement to welcome our little girl into this world."

The touching announcement immediately triggered a massive wave of celebration and support from across the heavy music landscape, with dozens of legendary rock and metal peers flooding the comment section to congratulate the new parents. Announced during Behaviour Interactive’s massive anniversary broadcast event in Montreal, the unexpected crossover promises a blood-soaked fusion of the band's signature theatrical aesthetic with the game’s iconic universe.

Multi-platinum alternative rock staples Hoobastank have officially broken their long studio silence with the release of a brand-new single, “How Do You Sleep?” Marking the band's first piece of completely original material since their 2018 studio album Push Pull, the track features high-end sonic production overseen by acclaimed rock producer Howard Benson—famed for his definitive work with My Chemical Romance, P.O.D., and Halestorm. Alongside the track's streaming debut, the group has shared an eye-catching new music video directed by Matt Akana, which is available to watch online now.

The arrival of fresh music serves as the perfect ammunition for what promises to be an incredibly active year on the road. This fall, Hoobastank will join forces with Staind as primary support on the massive "Break The Cycle" 25th anniversary tour, sharing a heavyweight lineup that also features Seether and Hinder. Ahead of that autumn arena trek, the "The Reason" hitmakers are set to dominate the summer circuit with various individual live appearances, alongside highly anticipated festival sets at both the Long Beach and Orlando stops of this year’s resurrected Vans Warped Tour, before heading overseas for a select run of international dates.

A Perfect Circle founding guitarist Billy Howerdel has confirmed that the band is actively working on more new music following the arrival of their late-May single, "Starless." Speaking with Kevin Kellam of Minneapolis's 93X radio station while on the road overseas, Howerdel gave fans a glimpse into the group's current creative pipeline, revealing that a full-length follow-up to 2018's Eat The Elephant is steadily being pieced together behind the scenes.

"There's more [music] underway," Howerdel revealed. "In the spirit of soft deadlines, I'm not gonna give you the date, but we're working toward something." The band launched an extensive European tour in London in early June, which Howerdel admitted makes the actual recording process difficult to navigate. "We're on tour. It's hard to get solid things done when you're out here... to get real cracking on to the new album, it's gonna be... I need a couple more of these days to line up over the next tour."

Howerdel also opened up about his enduring studio synergy with vocalist Maynard James Keenan, praising the Tool and Puscifer frontman's unparalleled drive and execution. "When it's time to work, we're kind of in it. And it's not super serious all the time, but it's focused," Howerdel explained. "He's at least in the top three hardest-working people I know that have real vision, conviction... Once the train starts rolling, it's rolling. Our soft deadlines are pretty intense. They're meant to be hit... it's a fire lit under your ass."

The update comes as their recent single "Starless"—which was produced by Howerdel at his Lankershim Ranch Studio, mixed by Matty Green, and features longtime powerhouse collaborator Josh Freese on drums—continues to make waves. Hardcore collectors can currently secure a limited-edition seven-inch vinyl version of the track via Revolver, which features a custom etching of the band's iconic crescent logo on the B-side and comes in two specialized color variants.

Speaking backstage at the UK's Download Festival with Rock Sound's James Wilson-Taylor, Hollywood Undead vocalist Johnny 3 Tears dropped a massive update regarding the band's release strategy, confirming that a brand-new studio album is officially slated to arrive at the beginning of next year. Furthermore, the frontman cleared up some confusion regarding their massive string of recent musical outputs, revealing that none of the hit tracks they have dropped over the past several months will actually appear on the forthcoming record.

"We'll put a new record out at the beginning of next year, it looks like," Johnny 3 Tears revealed. "So we're probably not gonna drop any songs till then, or maybe another song. But none of the songs we put out [in recent months] will be on the record. Those are all just releases, standalone songs." The singer applauded rock music's recent structural shift toward mimicking hip-hop and pop release cycles by pushing out consistent standalone tracks rather than waiting multiple years between album cycles. "For a long time, you had to wait two years to put out material, till the record ran its course. Now we'll just put out songs... we wrote it. Why not?"

The definitive confirmation means that massive Sumerian Records hits like their October 2024 debut "Hollywood Forever," 2025's dark anthem "SAVIOR," the Slayer-sampling "1x1," and the Jeris Johnson-assisted "All My Friends" exist purely as an independent creative era. The announcement lands directly on the heels of their latest standalone drop, "Feels Like Home"—a bruised, deeply melodic anthem dealing with pain and belonging.

The multi-platinum rap-rock powerhouse is currently closing out an extensive European summer festival trek before heading back stateside for a packed domestic schedule. Fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the masked icons live before the new album drops, as Hollywood Undead are officially set to co-headline the highly anticipated return of the legendary Taste of Chaos tour this fall alongside In This Moment, with support from I See Stars, Vana, and Melrose Avenue kicking off on September 22nd.

Daughtry frontman Chris Daughtry has officially confirmed that the band is already hard at work on their next full-length studio album, joining forces with highly acclaimed British musician, producer, and songwriter Jordan Fish. Speaking with Rock Sound's James Wilson-Taylor backstage at Download Festival, the singer revealed that the upcoming LP will serve as the official follow-up to 2021's Dearly Beloved and will mark their first batch of completely fresh material since capping off their recent multi-part era.

"We are in the writing process," Chris Daughtry enthusiastically shared. "I can say this, 'cause I posted about it, but I'm working with Jordan Fish. And we are a few songs deep right now. And it's going amazing. So we're getting back together later in the year to finish writing. Yeah, it's exciting... There's some heat. I'm just going ahead and let you know, there's some heat going on."

Praising the former Bring Me The Horizon member's distinct production style, Daughtry pointed to Fish's recent studio work on Evanescence's brand-new record Sanctuary as the perfect example of his collaborative philosophy. "You can hear some Jordan Fish-isms, but it's clearly an Evanescence record," Daughtry noted. "I think it's great that he keeps that in mind with who he's working with, as a fan of the band and really bringing out the best in what they already do. So, I think that's the goal with us as well."

The new writing sessions arrive right on the heels of the band's June 5th vinyl-exclusive launch of Shock To The System (Deluxe) via Big Machine Rock. The massive double-LP collection beautifully unified the full scope of the band's recent two-part EP project—which tackled heavy themes of grief, recovery, and self-reclamation—alongside bonus live tracks. The era proved to be a massive commercial and critical triumph for the 21st-century rock staples, earning Daughtry their first-ever No. 1 single at Active Rock radio with the industrial-tinged track "Artificial," followed by another chart-topper with "Pieces," and landing Chris Daughtry the title of Billboard's "Most Played Artist" at active rock.

Rock icon Rod Stewart has landed in hot water with his fanbase after being spotted celebrating at a FIFA World Cup soccer match less than 24 hours after abruptly canceling a major California tour stop due to an alleged vocal illness. The 81-year-old singer was scheduled to take the stage at the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in San Diego on Friday night, June 12th, as part of his high-profile "One Last Time" farewell tour. However, ticketholders were stunned when organizers officially axed the gig just 40 minutes before it was set to begin.

Initial statements from live event organizers blamed a sudden sinus infection, and Stewart later posted an apology on social media, clarifying that doctors had diagnosed him with an acute upper respiratory infection and severe laryngitis that rendered him physically unable to sing. While most fans were initially understanding of the last-minute medical emergency, that goodwill completely evaporated on Saturday morning. Stewart took to Instagram to post a high-energy video of himself boarding a private jet with his sons, enthusiastically singing "No Scotland, no party!" as they flew across the country to Boston to watch Scotland play Haiti.

The post instantly sparked fierce backlash online, with hundreds of furious, disappointed concertgoers questioning how the singer could appear entirely energetic, active, and vocally strong while thousands of fans in San Diego were left stranded at the venue. Fueling the fire, widespread photos and video footage from the stadium in New England showed a smiling Stewart draped in Scottish colors in the stands, with multiple alcoholic beverages visible in front of him.

A representative for the legendary artist quickly stepped in to defend the cancellation to The San Diego Union-Tribune, insisting the medical diagnosis was entirely genuine. According to the rep, Stewart was physically present at the venue on Friday and underwent multiple rounds of emergency steroid treatments in a desperate bid to get his vocal cords functioning. "Evidently, [the steroids] kicked in, but too late for the show," the representative explained. Despite the explanation, frustrated fans are continuing to …
Tragedy has struck the music world as eccentric alternative pop star, producer, and comedian Oliver Tree has died at the age of 32 following a catastrophic helicopter accident in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. According to local civil aviation authorities and CNN Brasil, the collision occurred on Sunday morning over the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood in Rio's western zone. Two helicopters collided mid-air, with one plummeting into an electric vehicle dealership lot, igniting an intense electrical fire that was eventually subdued by emergency responders.

Tragically, authorities have confirmed there are no survivors from the incident, which claimed a total of six lives. Local police reports indicate that Oliver Tree (born Oliver Tree Nickell) was traveling with four other individuals in one of the aircraft. The victims on board that helicopter have been identified as passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, and Lucas Brito Chaves, alongside pilot Alexandre Souza. The sole occupant of the second helicopter, pilot Charles Marsillac, also perished in the crash. An official, comprehensive investigation by Brazilian aviation authorities and the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro is currently underway to determine the exact mechanics and cause of the mid-air disaster.

The shocking news cuts short the life of one of the modern music landscape's most genuinely unique visual and sonic provocateurs. Tree first broke into the industry in 2010 as a teenager working alongside electronic heavyweights Skrillex and Zeds Dead before taking a temporary hiatus to study music technology. He skyrocketed to global viral fame with the release of his gold-certified 2020 debut studio album, Ugly Is Beautiful, spearheaded by the multi-platinum, chart-topping smash hit single "Life Goes On." Known for his signature bowl cut, oversized JNCO jeans, and elaborate performance art alter-egos, he continuously blurred the lines between music and comedy across subsequent records Cowboy Tears and Alone in a Crowd.

The multi-talented artist was in South America as part of his ongoing global tour cycle, having just performed a major show in São Paulo eight days prior. The tragic accident occurred …
