On September  The Goose Island Beer Company held their 2nd annual 215 Block Party at the Franklin Music Hall.  They turned the front parking lot of the Franklin Music Hall into a beer garden like atmosphere with food trucks, merch booths, photo op areas and a even a subway car serving Goose Island beer.  The rear parking lot behind the building was turned in an outdoor concert venue where the fine people of Philly were treated a concert featuring Philly’s own Freeway, Chevy Metal and Run The Jewels.

Philadelphia’s Freeway got the show poppin’ with his Roc-A-Fella hits from the early 2000’s.  He was joined on stage by Peedi Crack to perform “Flipside” and later in his set Neef Buck part of the Young Gunz to perform such classic rap songs as “Roc The Mic,” “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop,” and “What We Do.”

Next up was “the ultimate cover band” Chevy Metal which is led by Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for the Foo Fighters.  Joining Chevy Metal at this show was Jane’s Addiction’s drummer, Stephen Perkins.  This lead to a heavy Jane’s Addiction and Porno For Pyros covers set.  The highlight of the set was a cover of Van Halen’s “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love.”

Headlining the night was rap artistsRun The Jewels.  Memberw El-P and Killer Mike performed in a heavy blue fog to a packed crowd that by this time, were ready to bounce to some bass heavy hip hop.  Behind the two performers was a pair of inflatable hands in the form of their famous “pistol and fist.” RTJ delighted the crowd with songs like “Talk to Me,” “36 Chain,” and “Stay Gold.”
