Digital Noise Mag had the privilege of attending Role Model’s No Place Like Tour at The Fillmore in Philadelphia, Pa. on March 14, 2025. Tucker Pillsbury, better known by his stage name Role Model, has been a steadily rising indie artist for the past few years. Releasing his 2024 sophomore album Kansas Anymore marked a major breakthrough, blending pop, folk, and country influences— a shift from his previous sound on his 2022 debut album.

Kansas Anymore speaks to the emotional journey of navigating personal growth and heartache after a difficult breakup. “Sally, When The Wine Runs Out” is one of the stand-out songs on the album, and also the first of Role Model’s tracks to gain traction on TikTok since its release in February 2025. The track, part of the deluxe edition Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye), quickly became a fan favorite.

As fans waited outside the venue for hours before the doors opened at 7 p.m., hoping to secure a front-row spot. Right from the start, it was clear this wouldn’t be your average concert; it was a full-fledged sing-along. When Tucker took the stage, he introduced himself as Ed Sheeran, meanwhile every fan was in on the joke—and they encouraged him to keep going. In Philadelphia, he was Ed Sheeran, Benson Boone, and Maroon 5, constantly shifting personas throughout the set while engaging with the crowd.

When the hit song “Sally, When The Wine Runs Out” started, the crowd’s response was nothing short of euphoric. Fans shouted every single lyric, dancing and smiling with pure joy. Role Model even brought a diva to the stage who was chosen as the ‘Sally’ for the night with infectious energy to end the night. However, it wasn’t just the new music that left a positive impression. He seamlessly blended tracks from his latest album with past favorites while crafting a setlist that felt both nostalgic and refreshingly new. Songs like “Look At That Woman” and “Scumbag” embodied his signature blend of melancholy and warmth, while deeper, more introspective tracks like “Oh, Gemini” and “Compromise” allowed for quieter, more emotional moments.

By the end of the night, it was clear that Role Model isn’t just pop’s latest heartthrob—there’s substance behind his style of music.
