The Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden became a time machine on July 12th as Creed rolled into town for their Summer of ’99 Tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their diamond-certified album Human Clay. With Daughtry and Mammoth setting the stage, the evening proved that post-grunge and alternative rock still pack a powerful punch.

Mammoth opened the night with youthful energy, showcasing their blend of classic rock influences and modern edge. They opened with “Another Celebration at the End of the World,” then powered through tighter songs like “The Spell” and “Don’t Back Down.” Wolfgang Van Halen’s hard riffs and the band’s energetic delivery made a strong first impression.  It got the crowd warmed up and ready for more.

Daughtry brought their radio-friendly rock anthems to life, with Chris Daughtry’s powerful vocals cutting through the humid New Jersey air. They started strong with “The Reckoning” and “The Day I Die,” mixed in a cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” and threw in hit singles like “It’s Not Over” and “Over You.” Front man Chris Daughtry engaged the audience well, with powerful vocals and tight band work keeping the energy strong for nearly an hour

When Creed took the stage around 9:10 PM, the energy was electric. Scott Stapp’s distinctive vocals soared over Mark Tremonti’s crushing guitar work, while Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall locked in the rhythm section. The setlist was a greatest hits parade, featuring Human Clay classics alongside fan favorites from across their catalog.

“Higher” became a massive singalong moment, with thousands of voices joining Stapp’s soaring chorus. “With Arms Wide Open” created an emotional peak, while “One Last Breath” and “My Own Prison” reminded everyone why Creed dominated rock radio in the early 2000s.

The production was impressive – dynamic lighting that matched the band’s emotional intensity, and Stapp’s storytelling between songs added personal touches that made the 90-minute set feel intimate despite the large venue.
