Metal giants METALLICA have teamed up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive called Give Where You Live. This exciting initiative kicked off on July 29 and will run for seven months, giving fans a chance to win signed gear and custom shirts.
Donors who sign up can enter to win an ESP Snakebyte guitar featuring custom art by Squindo, along with autographs from all the band members. Plus, everyone who donates blood will receive a special Red Cross x METALLICA shirt while supplies last.
Darren Irby, the executive director of national partnerships for the Red Cross, praised the impact of METALLICA and their fans, saying, “The difference Metallica and their fans have made shows the commitment of the band and their community to patients in need.” He noted that this partnership has inspired both regular donors and those giving blood for the first time.
This drive builds on the success of previous blood drives during the M72 tour, where fans donated over 2,000 blood and platelet units. The band’s charity, All Within My Hands, which started in 2017, is supporting this project. The nationwide drive will continue until February 28, 2026, expanding on smaller drives from the M72 World Tour.
The goal is to help stock blood banks for accident victims and patients in need. Medical centers require fresh supplies every day, and consistent donations are crucial. Local blood banks will manage collections in cities across the country, allowing fans everywhere to participate, not just those attending concerts. Each donation helps keep hospital shelves stocked for emergencies, and this collaboration with METALLICA aims to attract new donors to meet ongoing needs.
