Imagine this: Melbourne, 1975. A group of Aussie rockers had a bold plan—to conquer the U.S. music scene. And just like that, Little River Band was born. They weren’t your typical garage band. With soft rock vibes, amazing harmonies, and dreams bigger than the Outback, they were ready to make waves.
Their hits had everyone swooning, and songs like “Reminiscing” made you want to roll down the windows and sing out loud. It was pure ear candy. Today, these legends are still on the road, sharing their timeless tunes with fans old and new. Little River Band proves that great music only gets better with time. So, the next time “Reminiscing” plays on your playlist, take a moment to really listen. Feel the history and magic of a band that’s been rocking since the ‘70s.
Recently, Jim O’Brien caught up with Wayne Nelson of Little River Band. They reminisced about Nelson’s first time on stage with the band. “The first time we went live was in an Australian pub,” he shared. “They would rehearse in pubs for a couple of weeks. Australian pubs are tough, with rock legends like AC/DC and Midnight Oil. Little River Band’s sound is a bit softer, but we had our own history on that stage. If you can make it work in a pub, you can take it anywhere.”
Nelson also recalled their first big show at Olympic Stadium in Munich. “There were 125,000 people. We went from pubs to that massive stage right after getting off a plane. It was my 30th birthday, so it was a special treat.” He remembered the weather that day: “It was cold and rainy, but when we went on stage, the sun broke through for an hour. We had a golden moment before the rain returned. It was very cool.”
