Sir Brian May has shared exciting plans for Queen’s upcoming show at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Sony, which owns Queen’s music catalog, will fund the production.
“I’m very keen,” May said. “It takes time to get everything in place, and we’ll be working closely with Sony since they’re the ones providing the funding.” He emphasized that passion, not money, drives this project. “We do it for the love now, and I think we always did. It’s clear that we do it because we love it,” he added.
The Sphere features a stunning 16K screen that wraps around its interior, allowing 20,000 fans to be fully immersed in the experience. U2 and The Eagles have performed there, and currently, an enhanced version of The Wizard of Oz is showing.
May hopes this show will expand beyond Las Vegas. “I think there will be other Spheres, and others are trying to create similar experiences,” he noted. “But right now, the Sphere is the only immersive experience of its kind in the world.”
He has big ideas for the show. “I want to create something that makes an immortal Queen show. I believe that’s what we need to leave the world with. It will be epic,” he said.
Following in the footsteps of ABBA and KISS, Queen’s production will use motion-capture technology. This will allow fans to enjoy performances long after the band members can no longer tour. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling project!
