Shinedown Releases ‘Searchlight’ Music Video Following Grand Ole Opry Debut

Shinedown has just released the music video for their new song “Searchlight.” The band first performed this track during their debut at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville last year. The video was filmed in Nashville the day after that performance, directed by Andrew Donoho.

Lead singer Brent Smith introduced “Searchlight” at the Opry, saying, “Sometimes when you listen close enough to the universe and you’re willing to receive something from it, a song can come out of thin air. We didn’t find this one; it found us.” The video features each band member playing their instruments, with steel pedal guitar and banjo adding to the sound.

Smith, along with Eric Bass and Dave Bassett, wrote the song together. He describes “Searchlight” as a journey of self-discovery. “It’s about owning your true feelings and finding your purpose,” he said. “Lyrically, it’s a coming-of-age story. Musically, it pays tribute to the music our parents and grandparents introduced us to, blending Americana, Rhythm and Blues, Bluegrass, Outlaw Country, and rock ‘n’ roll.”

Shinedown is set to headline the Sonic Temple Festival in Ohio for the first time on May 15, sharing the stage with My Chemical Romance, Tool, and Bring Me the Horizon on other days.

Additionally, the band has announced their first-ever curated festival, Shinedown’s Lunatic Ball Beach Weekend, taking place from October 23 to 25 in Miramar Beach, Florida. This three-day event will feature two headlining sets from Shinedown, along with performances from Bush, Hanson, Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm, Living Colour, From Ashes to New, Guardians of the Jukebox, and Neon Mooners. More acts will be announced soon.
