This Day in Top 40 History: March 14

March 14 has seen its fair share of memorable music events. The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards took place on this day after being postponed due to COVID-19. Billie Eilish and Megan Thee Stallion were among the big winners. A Top 40 artist performed for the Queen of England and the Royal Family, while the Jonas Brothers kicked off a Broadway residency.

This date has also marked the release of several iconic albums. In 1972, Carole King’s classic album, *Tapestry*, won four GRAMMYs, including Album of the Year. In 1985, DeBarge released *Rhythm of the Night*, featuring the hit single that topped the R&B chart and reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1995, Tupac’s *Me Against the World* dropped while he was in prison. This album is often seen as his best work, featuring hits that helped it debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2005, Daft Punk released *Human After All*, which topped the Dance/Electronic Albums chart and earned a GRAMMY nomination.

Skrillex launched his debut album, *Recess*, in 2014, featuring collaborations with Chance the Rapper and others. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. At the 2021 GRAMMYs, Billie Eilish won Record of the Year, while Megan Thee Stallion took home Best New Artist.

March 14 is also the birthday of music legend Quincy Jones, born in 1933, and pop star Taylor Hanson, born in 1983. This day is a true celebration of music history!
