April is an exciting month for sports fans, featuring NBA and NHL playoffs, the start of MLB, The Masters, the NCAA Basketball title game, the NFL Draft, and various Grand Prix events. April 15 has seen many memorable moments in sports history.

In 1896, the Summer Olympics wrapped up in Athens, with the U.S. leading the gold medal count. In 1901, Canadian Jim Caffrey won his second Boston Marathon with a time of 2:29:23.6. Walter Johnson made headlines in 1911 by pitching four strikeouts in a single inning. Four years later, Rube Marquard threw a no-hitter for the New York Giants against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Babe Ruth set an MLB record in 1927 by hitting 60 home runs in a season. In 1937, the Detroit Red Wings clinched back-to-back Stanley Cup titles by defeating the New York Rangers. Jackie Robinson broke barriers in 1947 as the first African American in MLB. The Red Wings swept the Canadiens in 1952 to win the Stanley Cup.
