Campaign started to preserve recording studio behind iconic Iron Maiden and Def Leppard albums

A petition has been launched to save London’s Battery Studios, a historic recording space that has seen the creation of classic albums by Iron Maiden and Def Leppard. The studio is currently at risk of being demolished to make way for new apartments.

Iron Maiden recorded their iconic 1982 album, The Number of the Beast, at Battery Studios. This was the band’s first album featuring singer Bruce Dickinson and it topped the U.K. charts. The album includes the legendary title track and the hit “Run to the Hills.”

Battery Studios has also hosted other famous albums, including Def Leppard’s High ‘n’ Dry and Pyromania, Black Sabbath’s Sabotage, and works by artists like Whitesnake, Krokus, The Cars, The Stone Roses, and Paul McCartney.

The petition urges the music industry, artists, and fans to unite in protecting this important cultural landmark. It emphasizes that the music created there has significantly influenced global culture and established the U.K. as a leader in the music scene.
