A pizzeria in Chester County is gaining attention as one of the best in the world. Mezzaluna Wood Fired Pizza in Kennett Square has been recognized by the International Pizza Expo as one of the top pizza shops globally. In the expo’s nontraditional category, Mezzaluna secured third place out of 110 finalists from around the world. It also took first place in the Northeast division preliminary round.
Chef Benjamin Tobin shared his excitement on Facebook, saying, “It was such an honor to compete alongside hundreds of pizza makers from across the country and from all over the world.” The nontraditional division allows chefs to compete live without restrictions on dough, sauce, toppings, or styles. Mezzaluna’s bronze medal came from a competitive field of elite finalists.
Another Philadelphia pizzeria also earned recognition. Davide Lubrano Lavadera from Pizzata Pizzeria won second place in the “Pan Division Finals” and first place in the “Pan, Roman Style” category.
The International Pizza Expo is known as the top pizza competition worldwide, featuring 550 pizza establishments, many from Italy. This event showcases the best of the best in the pizza-making world, and Mezzaluna’s achievements highlight its dedication to quality and creativity.
