Breaking Benjamin is back with their new single “Something Wicked.” The band aims to blend their classic sound with new elements. Guitarist Aaron Rauch explains that the song combines their older style with fresh ideas. He believes it captures the essence of where they are as a band right now.
The title “Something Wicked” might remind you of the Wicked movies, but it actually comes from Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Rauch notes that many artists have referenced this phrase, but they wanted to put their own twist on it.
Musically, “Something Wicked” takes listeners on a journey. The chorus features brighter guitar sounds, while frontman Benjamin Burnley’s lyrics stay dark. This contrast is something the band wanted to explore, inspired by some of their favorite music.
Breaking Benjamin is also working on a new album, following their 2018 release, Ember. Fans can catch them on a U.S. headlining tour starting in September.
