Journey lead vocalist Arnel Pineda has issued a blunt and powerful message directed at online critics, trolls, and hateful commentators targeting his social media presence. Pineda explicitly addressed his detractors, firmly telling them to take their unkind words elsewhere because they are completely unwelcome on his page.

His full statement reads:

“To Whom It May Concern, dear bashers, racists, bigots & hateful people, pls take your negativities and unkind words against me somewhere else coz you are not completely welcome on my page. I get it, you love the original members with The Voice in it. I love that too. But life happened & it is what it is right now. No need to be unkind just cause you are exercising your so called freedom of speech rights. That being said, doesn’t make you good human beings. Again, KINDNESS is cheap, and yet, obviously, you can’t afford to share it to others like me.

Again, don’t come to my page if your only intention is to hate me. Go somewhere else, where you truly belong.”

Do you think it's time for toxic internet commentators to finally respect Arnel's position in the band?

End It frontman Akil Godsey has officially broken his silence following the viral "banana man" incident that occurred during the first week of June. The controversy stems from a June 5th, 2026, concert in Toronto where End It was opening for Terror. During the set, Godsey took issue with a concertgoer wearing a banana costume, offering the band's setlist as a "bounty" to anyone who would "strip the banana". Audience members subsequently swarmed the fan and shredded the costume. The fan later stated on the Beardo & Weirdo podcast that he was unfamiliar with End It and had attended the show specifically to see Terror. In the intense online debate that followed, End It's Facebook page vanished, and the band withdrew from a planned European tour with Hatebreed and Life Of Agony.

Taking to his Instagram on June 24th, Godsey released a video statement addressing critics who expressed disappointment in his actions. "The funniest thing to come out of all this is people telling me they were disappointed in me, when the first song I ever wrote for this band is called 'Give Up'..." Godsey stated, adding, "We’re a hardcore band. We do hardcore things. You don’t have to come over here". He further noted that if the band has to call it quits, he will simply return to his normal routine as a working adult. In the post's caption, Godsey revealed that the backlash crossed the line into harassment, thanking critics sarcastically for the "racism and death threats" before stating he was stepping away to raise his child. Despite the controversy, Godsey's post received supportive comments from several notable peers in the scene, including members of Jesus Piece, Nails, and Thursday.

Do you think the crowd's reaction went too far, or is this just par for the course at a hardcore show?

Pop culture icon William Shatner is exploring the possibility of transforming his highly ambitious new heavy metal recording project into an immersive live stage production. Envisioned as part concert and part theatrical multimedia experience, the proposed spectacle would pair Shatner's dramatic storytelling and signature vocal presence with a live metal band, massive visual production, and a celebration of heavy metal's legacy. Far from a novelty move, the 95-year-old Star Trek alumnus is treating the project as a full-scale artistic statement, aiming to combine legendary musicianship with a raw, cinematic intensity.

Anticipation for the project has surged with the announcement that legendary drummer Mikkey Dee (Motörhead, Scorpions) has joined the album's massive roster. Dee recently finalized drum tracks for Shatner's explosive rendition of the Judas Priest classic "Living After Midnight". "I needed pounding beats to make the music feel the way I feel it," Shatner shared regarding the collaboration. Dee joins an unprecedented lineup of elite rock and metal drummers already attached to the record, including Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Chris Adler (Megadeth), Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath), and Simon Wright (AC/DC). Driven by a powerhouse production team that includes Cleopatra Records president Brian Perera and Adam Hamilton (L.A. Guns), the album's official title, release date, and additional guest stars are expected to be announced soon.

Would you buy a ticket to see Captain Kirk fronting an all-star heavy metal band live on stage?

King Ultramega has unleashed a high-octane interpretation of Soundgarden's 1989 classic "Loud Love" to honor the life, voice, and genius of the late Chris Cornell. The star-studded recording lineup features Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) commanding lead vocals, Alex Skolnick (Testament, Metal Allegiance) on guitars, Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam) on drums, and project mastermind Mark Menghi on bass. Launched in conjunction with Soundgarden's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, the passion-driven musical project is raising crucial funds and awareness for MusiCares, the Recording Academy's nonprofit providing mental health, addiction recovery, and emergency assistance to the music community.

To evoke the authentic spirit of the original Louder Than Love era, producer Mark Menghi took an uncompromising, old-school production approach. Rather than tracking parts remotely, Menghi and Skolnick captured their live performances simultaneously in the same room, running real, blasting amplifiers directly onto an old-school reel-to-reel tape machine to achieve maximum analog warmth. "If there was ever a time to be spreading a message of 'Loud Love', it's now," noted Lzzy Hale, who explained that her approach wasn't about imitating Cornell's insane vocal range, but rather placing herself inside the poetry of the track to honor the original while making it her own.

The single—mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur with accompanying video direction by Tom Flynn—is just the beginning for King Ultramega. The tribute project grew organically out of a 2020 pandemic recording of "Rusty Cage" and has since expanded to feature legendary collaborators like Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, Charlie Benante, and Joe Satriani. With more tracks already fully recorded for future releases, Menghi continues to guide the project with a singular creative standard: "How would Chris like this?"

The horror-metal maestro is currently preparing to take his high-octane theatrical live production back on the road for a highly anticipated, co-headlining late-summer North American run alongside Marilyn Manson. Bad Omens have officially achieved a massive new career milestone, landing their first-ever double-platinum single certification in the United States. The band's standout 2022 track "Just Pretend" has continued its unrelenting commercial climb after initially exploding into a viral phenomenon on the social media platform TikTok several years ago. The massive digital interest originally propelled the song to RIAA gold status back in July 2023, followed by a platinum certification in April 2024. Now, just over two years later, the track has officially cleared the double-platinum threshold, representing 2,000,000 track-equivalent units shifted in the U.S. alone.

The double-platinum crowning comes alongside a major wave of additional accolades for the group's catalog. Bad Omens have simultaneously racked up a fresh host of RIAA gold certifications (signifying 500,000 units), including a gold album award for their critically acclaimed third studio album, The Death Of Peace Of Mind. Furthermore, individual gold single awards have been handed out for the album's massive title track, as well as the fan-favorite anthems "Like A Villain" and "Limits." Under modern RIAA certification guidelines, these milestones factor in traditional sales alongside digital streaming data, where 150 on-demand streams of a song equate to a single track-equivalent unit.

Theatrical horror-metal heavyweights Ice Nine Kills have reached a massive career milestone, officially locking in their first-ever No. 1 single at Active Rock Radio with "Twisting The Knife." Featuring guest vocals from actress and pop-rock singer Mckenna Grace, the track serves as the official theme song for Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group’s record-breaking slasher sequel, Scream 7. The historic achievement marks the first time a song written specifically for the iconic horror franchise has ever captured the top spot on rock radio format charts, racking up over 32.2 million cross-platform streams to date.

The single's massive radio success cements the band's status as the definitive musical bridge between heavy music and modern horror cinema. "To now be included among the songs that make up the legacy of this franchise is one of the greatest honors of our career," shared frontman Spencer Charnas, noting that the soundtracks to the original Scream films completely altered his musical trajectory. The radio milestone lands amidst a flurry of massive crossover projects for the band. Following high-profile collaborations with Terrifier 3 ("A Work of Art") and Ready or Not 2, the group is turning their sights toward gaming. During Behaviour Interactive's recent anniversary broadcast, it was revealed that Ice Nine Kills will drop a brand-new track titled "Play Dead" this Friday, June 26th, inspired by and crossing over directly into the asymmetric horror hit Dead By Daylight.

Entitled "Sending Hearts To All My Dearies – A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins," the compilation has been personally approved and titled by frontman Billy Corgan, pulling its name from a beloved lyric in the Siamese Dream classic "Mayonaise." The 15-track effort is scheduled for a digital release on August 14, 2026, with a deluxe gatefold double-vinyl release following on October 16th.

The star-studded tracklist spans multiple musical generations, bringing together unexpected covers from industrial synthwave icons like Carpenter Brut, synth-pop mainstays The Midnight, electronic artist Alice Glass, and shred guitar virtuoso Nita Strauss, alongside progressive metal heavyweights Between the Buried and Me. The release lands at a perfect time for fans, arriving just ahead of the Pumpkins' highly anticipated fall stadium tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their magnum opus Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
