Megadeth plays ‘Ride the Lightning’ cover live for the first time at Bogota show

Megadeth performed their cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning” live for the first time during a concert in Bogota, Colombia, on Sunday. Dave Mustaine, the frontman of Megadeth, co-wrote the original song while he was in Metallica before leaving the band in 1983. Over 40 years later, he recorded it for Megadeth’s self-titled farewell album, which came out in January.

Mustaine shared that including “Ride the Lightning” in their setlist was a way to honor his roots and the start of his career. The Bogota concert is part of Megadeth’s farewell tour, which will continue for several years. The tour will also feature North American dates with Iron Maiden, starting in August.
