Philadelphia’s first week of June is buzzing with outdoor events and activities. The 52 Weeks of Firsts series brings history to life at the Betsy Ross House. On June 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., celebrate the first American flag with artist Alana Bograd, who will showcase a sculpture inspired by Betsy Ross. This event is free and takes place at 239 Arch Street.
On June 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Barnes Foundation hosts its First Friday event. This month, it features GRAMMY-nominated artist Carolina Oliveros, who will perform live music blending Colombian sounds with modern styles. The event also includes screenings of short films from the Philadelphia Latino Arts & Film Festival. General admission is $35, but members and students can get in for $10, and supporters enter for free.
Wrapping up the weekend, Khalid will perform at the Skyline Stage in Fairmount Park on June 7 at 7:30 p.m. as part of his It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour, with special guest Lauv. Tickets start at $58. Khalid, a multi-platinum artist, has made waves with his recent album, “After the Sun Goes Down,” exploring themes of love and self-discovery.
