The Black Keys Unveils Hip-Hop Collaborations and Releases New Album

The Black Keys just released their new album, *No Rain, No Flowers*, on August 8, and they’re already hinting at future hip-hop projects. The band is eager to explore new sounds while staying true to their roots.

Guitarist Dan Auerbach mentioned, “I don’t think it would necessarily be a Blakroc thing. We do love hip-hop and could definitely see ourselves collaborating with someone at some point.” Drummer Patrick Carney added, “We’ve never really talked about it, but I think we could do something fun with the right hip-hop artist.”

Their experience with Blakroc changed how they create music. Auerbach explained, “We took what we learned making Blakroc and focused more on the rhythm section, bass, and drums. We carried that mentality into our work on *Brothers*.” In 2009, they blended rock and rap on *Blakroc*, featuring artists like Q-Tip, Mos Def, RZA, and Raekwon. Their upcoming 2024 album, *Ohio Players*, continues this trend with contributions from Lil Noid and Juicy J.

However, the band faced challenges that cut their tour plans short. Auerbach shared, “We were extremely frustrated after a tour was canceled. There was more to it, but making this record helped us work through it.”

In addition, their European shows are set to coincide with Oasis’s comeback, as they’ll miss the iconic band by just a day. They’ll be in Mexico City the day before Oasis and have an event in Nashville the following day.

Stay tuned for more updates from The Black Keys as they continue to evolve their sound!
