Jane’s Addiction members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins are working together in the studio, but without their frontman, Perry Farrell. The trio has shared several posts about their recording sessions, including a photo of them at a mixing board with producer Robert Adam Stevenson. This post received positive feedback from former Velvet Revolver members Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner, as well as Robert DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots.
However, the future of these studio sessions is uncertain due to ongoing legal battles between Navarro, Avery, Perkins, and Farrell. In July, Navarro, Avery, and Perkins filed a lawsuit against Farrell, who responded with a countersuit. Tensions escalated in September 2024 when Farrell confronted Navarro on stage during a show in Boston.
The lawsuit filed by Navarro, Avery, and Perkins claims that Farrell’s actions, including alleged assault and emotional distress, have caused significant harm. They state that the cancellation of their tour led to losses of over $10 million. The lawsuit emphasizes that the band can no longer function due to Farrell’s behavior, which has affected their personal and professional lives.
In his countersuit, Farrell claims he has been the target of bullying within the band for years. He also alleges that his bandmates used his mental health as an excuse to cancel the tour, which he believes was an attempt to undermine him.
As the legal disputes continue, fans are left wondering what the future holds for Jane’s Addiction and whether they will see new music or performances from the band.
