Rock Band 4 has disappeared from the PlayStation and Xbox online stores. The music rights for its main soundtrack are reaching their 10-year limit. Kyle Wynn, the game’s producer, shared this news on the official Discord channel. He explained that the original licenses for the core soundtrack are expiring, which means Rock Band 4 will no longer be available for purchase on these platforms.
If you already own the game, there’s no need to worry. Wynn assured players that they will still have full access to the game and can download it along with any songs on new compatible devices.
The extra music packs are also facing the same fate. Each pack will be removed from sale once it turns 10 years old. The first set of 22 tracks to go includes songs from popular artists like Babymetal, Duran Duran, Earth, Wind & Fire, Linkin Park, and Pantera.
Since its launch in October 2015, Rock Band 4 has added new tracks regularly, with the last updates coming in January 2024. The final songs added were “Wherever You Will Go” by The Calling, “Send Me on My Way” by Rusted Root, and “Thank You” by Dido. The game has built an impressive library of 748 extra songs. Players can still enjoy it on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X with their purchased content.
Currently, you can still grab the Rivals Bundle, which includes the base game and bonus tracks. Wynn expressed gratitude for the community’s passion, saying it has been a special experience to serve players with Rivals challenges and a deep DLC library. If you’ve been thinking about picking up a few last songs, now is the time!
