Bruce Springsteen Unveils Iconic Concert Performance from 1981

Bruce Springsteen’s story began in 1949 in New Jersey, where he became a symbol of the state and rock music. Known as “The Boss,” he rose to fame in the 1970s with his E Street Band, delivering a unique blend of rock, folk, and heartland themes that resonated with fans across America. His 1975 album, *Born to Run*, showcased his powerful rock sound and storytelling lyrics, propelling him to global stardom. Hits like “Born in the U.S.A.” solidified his status, and he remains famous for his electrifying live performances and poetic songwriting.

Now, Springsteen is revisiting a memorable concert from his past. He has just released a recording of his July 6, 1981, show at the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This concert was significant as it marked one of the first events at the newly opened arena, making it a historic moment for both Springsteen and his fans.

The concert was part of *The River* tour and included six shows that helped launch the venue. Before this, Springsteen had never played an arena show in his home state. The Brendan Byrne Arena became the future home for the Nets and Devils, and Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked it off with a sold-out run.

The 27-song setlist features many of Springsteen’s classics, such as “Thunder Road,” “Prove It All Night,” “The River,” “Badlands,” and “Born to Run.” It also includes covers like Jimmy Cliff’s “Trapped” and Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” Fans can stream or purchase the show now.
