Metallica Performs at San Francisco Tech Conference, Fundraises for Children’s Hospitals

Metallica rocked the Chase Center last Wednesday night during the Dreamforce conference, performing a dozen songs to support UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. Tickets started at $1,500, and fans were treated to a 90-minute set. The band kicked off the night with “Creeping Death” and wrapped up with their classic “Enter Sandman.” This was their third appearance at Dreamfest since 2011.

The four members—James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo—took center stage, surrounded by fans from all sides. Hetfield energized the crowd, saying, “We are here to have some fun tonight.”

Across from the arena at Bayfront Park, singer Benson Boone was also performing. Mid-set, Hetfield playfully mentioned Boone, saying, “Hey, is that Benson Boone guy on right now? I want to see it. I want to see the backflip.”

The audience was a bit different from typical metal shows, with many attendees dressed in suits and blazers instead of the usual black t-shirts and jeans. Metallica played several fan favorites, including “The Unforgiven” and “Master of Puppets.” Previous Dreamfest events have featured big names like Foo Fighters and U2, making it a highlight for conference-goers while supporting children’s medical care.

The full setlist for the night included: “Creeping Death,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Fuel,” “The Memory Remains,” “The Unforgiven,” “Sad but True,” “Wherever I May Roam,” “Nothing Else Matters,” “Seek & Destroy,” “One,” “Master of Puppets,” and “Enter Sandman.” Metallica is currently on tour, and this performance was a memorable night for fans and a great cause.
