The Foo Fighters debuted their new single “Asking for a Friend” live on Wednesday night in Monterrey, Mexico, during the Corona Capital Sessions. Frontman Dave Grohl told the crowd, “That’s the first time we’ve ever tried that one live,” right after the performance.
They also surprised fans by playing “Hey, Johnny Park!” from their album The Colour and the Shape. This song hadn’t been performed since 2021, making it a special treat for longtime fans who appreciate the band’s deeper cuts. The studio version of “Asking for a Friend” was released in October, and it’s the second new song from the band this year, following “Today’s Song” in July. Their latest album, Here We Are, came out in 2023. While two new tracks have been released this year, the band hasn’t announced any plans for a new album yet.
Pro-shot footage and a soundboard recording of the Monterrey show have made their way to YouTube. Fans noted that the live version of “Asking for a Friend” sounded almost identical to the studio version, with some saying you could easily swap them without noticing a difference.
The Monterrey concert was part of the Corona Capital Sessions, and today, the Foo Fighters will headline the main Corona Capital festival in Mexico City. Next year, they will be joined by Queens of the Stone Age for more shows. A North American stadium tour is set to kick off in Summer 2026, promising big crowds and exciting performances for both bands. Fans can check out all future tour dates to catch the action.
