Tommy Thayer, the guitarist for KISS, and Jaime St. James, the former lead singer of BLACK ‘N BLUE, have released a new six-song EP titled *Bombshell*. This marks their first collaboration on new music since the late 1980s. After years apart, the two former bandmates reconnected and created this fresh collection.
The EP features six tracks: “Bombshell,” “Bulletproof,” “Time of My Life,” “Tonight’s the Night,” “Magnetic,” and “I Wanna Fly.” Thayer and St. James wrote and recorded all the songs together. In a joint statement, they shared, “Our story has always been about friendship first. From the beginnings of BLACK ‘N BLUE, before the tours and records, we were two friends writing songs and chasing dreams together. That bond has never changed.”
They explained that the songwriting process was relaxed and spontaneous. “*Bombshell* is the first time since the late ’80s that we’ve written and recorded new music side by side. We didn’t come into it with a plan; we just wanted to get together, write, and see where it took us.”
Tommy Thayer has been with KISS since 2002, stepping in for Ace Frehley. Jaime St. James co-founded BLACK ‘N BLUE in 1981 in Portland, Oregon, after their earlier band, MOVIE STAR, changed direction. BLACK ‘N BLUE released four albums with Geffen Records from 1984 to 1987, with their debut album featuring the hit “Hold On To 18,” which sold over a million copies in the U.S. The band split in 1989 but reunited in 1997 and again in 2007, though Thayer was busy with KISS during those later reunions.
In 2022, they released *The Lost Tapes*, a five-song EP of forgotten recordings from the late ’80s. Now, with *Bombshell*, they are back to doing what they love: creating music together. Fans can purchase the EP now.
