Sebastian Bach Reveals Atlantic Records Prevented His Joining Mötley Crüe in 1992

Sebastian Bach recently revealed that Atlantic Records stopped him from joining Mötley Crüe over 30 years ago. The former Skid Row lead singer had rehearsed with the band and received an invitation from bassist Nikki Sixx. He shared this story during an interview on January 10, 2026.

“I was never in the band, but I rehearsed with them,” Bach explained. “Nikki asked me to join the band during the rehearsal in front of everyone. We had phone calls about it later with the manager, Doug Thaler. But in the end, Atlantic Records wouldn’t allow it.”

In 1992, Mötley Crüe fired Vince Neil due to personal differences. John Corabi took over as the lead singer and recorded one album with the band. Bach recalled, “I remember the songs Nikki asked me to sing that day. The whole road crew was ecstatic about us jamming together. Nikki’s offer for me to join the band was very generous. It’s not every day your hero asks you to join his band.”

In 2013, Bach and Sixx had a public disagreement after Bach tweeted about this experience, and Sixx denied it ever happened. Bach defended himself against claims that he made up the story. Despite the drama, he still enjoys Mötley Crüe’s music and supports Vince Neil. “I’m always going to be a fan of that music, no matter what. I’m really happy for Vince. He’s been through a lot, and he’s still going on tour. Way to go, Vince,” Bach said.
