Megadeth has just released an official live video of their cover of Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning.” The video, which you can watch on YouTube, was filmed during a concert in Bogota, Colombia. This performance marked the first time Dave Mustaine and the band played “Ride the Lightning” live.
The original song credits Mustaine as a co-writer because it features riffs he created while he was with Metallica before leaving the band in 1983. Over 40 years later, he recorded it for Megadeth’s self-titled farewell album, which came out in January. Mustaine shared, “As I come full circle on the career of a lifetime, the decision to include ‘Ride the Lightning’ was to pay my respects to where my career first started.”
The Bogota concert is part of Megadeth’s farewell tour, which will continue for several years. The tour includes North American dates with Iron Maiden, starting in August.
