Jack White left a special note for Olivia Rodrigo in the dressing room before her big night on Saturday Night Live. During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on April 30, Rodrigo shared that she had been on the phone with White, whom she admires as her “hero.” They talked about her upcoming SNL performance, where she would be both the host and musical guest.
White, who recently joined the SNL Five Timers Club after performing on the show, told Rodrigo he had left her a note. At first, she thought he was joking, but he later texted her to say, “Keep your head up. You’re gonna find something.” Rodrigo excitedly recalled how she searched the dressing room, even taking off ceiling tiles in her quest to find the note.
Fallon showed a clip of her searching until she finally discovered an envelope on the top shelf of a cabinet. Inside, she found a yellow rose and a note that read, “Kill it kid. Love Jack White III.” Rodrigo called the note her “little good luck charm.”
White has praised Rodrigo in the past, calling her “very cool, very real, and very much a lover of music.” In 2025, she performed The White Stripes’ “We’re Going to Be Friends” during their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rodrigo’s SNL episode airs this Saturday, and she will kick off her North American Unraveled tour in September, featuring support from artists like Wolf Alice and The Last Dinner Party on select dates.
