Pennsylvania is reviving a delightful tradition that encourages visitors to explore the state. The Scooped Ice Cream Trail is back for its ninth year, featuring 59 PA Preferred creameries. Travelers can use a free digital passport to enhance their experience. From now until September 7, visitors can plan their trips, hit milestones, and earn rewards, including chances for grand prizes.
On June 8, state agriculture officials kicked off the trail at Lapp Valley Creamery in Lancaster County. Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding emphasized the importance of the dairy industry, which supports thousands of jobs and generates $12 billion in profits each year. He noted that ice cream brings people together, celebrating both big and small moments in life.
Visitors who stop at six creameries will receive a special insulated bag. Those who visit ten will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for a unique farm family experience and an overnight stay. In Chester County, you can check out Chester Springs Creamery at Milky Way Farm and Hangry Bear Creamery in Kennett Square.
Milky Way Farm boasts over 40 ice cream flavors, all named after the farm’s cows, like Joy’s Peanut Butter Fudge and Opal’s Orange Pineapple. They’re open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hangry Bear offers small-batch premium ice cream with flavors like Salted Caramel Crunch and Kara Needs S’more Coffee. Their hours are Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
