MLB All-Star Game Brings $5.5M Investment to North Philadelphia Literacy Center

Big news from North Philadelphia: Tree House Books is getting a major makeover and will become the MLB All-Star Legacy Literacy Clubhouse. Tree House Books teamed up with Major League Baseball and Phillies Charities to expand the nonprofit’s space for kids and teens.

The renovation will double the children’s library and add a teen center and tutoring rooms. Michael Brix, the nonprofit’s executive director, said the change will mean a lot to local youth. Phillies star Ryan Howard and his wife Krystle will be honored with the children’s library named after them. They attended the announcement.

Construction has started now, with a planned grand opening next spring. This project is part of a larger $5.5 million investment tied to the 96th Midsummer Classic. MLB calls it a way to make a lasting impact in the community beyond the game.

This is the kind of off-field move that matters. More space for books, learning, and teen programs will give neighborhood kids new chances to grow. Fans who follow teams and community stories will want to keep an eye on this one as it takes shape.
