Björk has shared a sneak peek of her new song “Never Bloom,” which is part of her exhibition called echolalia at the National Gallery of Iceland. The exhibition opened on Saturday. She posted a clip of the song along with visuals on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse into the creative process.
In her post, Björk mentioned that the visuals were created with painter Natalia Kleszczewska and computer graphics director Natalie Liu. Kleszczewska painted the creatures and backgrounds, while Liu worked on the digital aspects. As the creative director, Björk focused on bringing in the “singer-songwriter tradition,” where emotions play a key role in the song’s structure. She also guided the color palettes, textures, and the overall environment for the music.
Björk revealed that it took seven months to create the visuals for “Never Bloom.” However, she humbly stated that she doesn’t see herself as a “visual artist” because her true passion lies in music. The echolalia exhibition will be open until September 9. When it was announced in December, it was also revealed that this new song is part of Björk’s upcoming album, which is still in development. Her last album, Fossora, was released in 2022.
