Green Day has announced the theatrical premiere of their movie, NIMRODS. The film will hit cinemas on August 14. NIMRODS, which was previously called New Years Rev, tells the story of three friends, played by Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust. They go on a road trip, thinking their band has been picked to open for a Green Day concert on New Year’s Eve. The movie draws inspiration from Green Day’s early touring days.
The cast also features Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn. Lee Kirk, who directed the film, previously collaborated with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong on the 2016 movie Ordinary World. NIMRODS first premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival under its former title.
