The film examining the late Rush drummer’s personal life will premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.
The official trailer has been released for Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple, an upcoming 96-minute documentary focusing on the life and legacy of the late Rush drummer. Directed by Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn—who previously helmed the 2010 Rush documentary Beyond The Lighted Stage—the film aims to look past Peart’s public status as a musician, lyricist, and author to explore his personal life and friendships. The project includes interviews with Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, alongside commentary from close friends.
In addition to tracing Peart’s rise to international fame, the documentary features musical performances by Lee and Lifeson playing Rush classics with drummers Stewart Copeland of The Police, Danny Carey of Tool, and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple will make its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on September 16, with a public screening on September 19, before airing in Canada on CBC’s The Passionate Eye on September 23.
