Rush is gearing up for their first tour since the passing of drummer Neil Peart, with Anika Nilles stepping in on drums. The band stopped touring in 2015 due to Peart’s health issues. In a recent interview, frontman Geddy Lee shared that after Peart’s death in 2020, many drummers expressed interest in joining the band, but some were a bit too eager.
Lee noted that close friends and successful drummers showed respect and did not make any inappropriate comments about taking Peart’s place. However, he found it distasteful that several other drummers reached out to him in a pushy manner, which he felt was inappropriate given the circumstances.
Rush will kick off their Fifty Something tour with a four-night run in Los Angeles starting June 7. The North American leg will conclude on December 17 in Vancouver, followed by shows in South America, the U.K., and Europe. Fans can check out the full tour schedule at Rush.com.
