Ozzy Osbourne passed away from a heart attack, as stated on his death certificate. His daughter, Aimée Osbourne, submitted the document to a registry in London. The certificate lists the cause of death as “(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes).” It also notes his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend.”
The New York Times reported that Ozzy received emergency care at his estate in Buckinghamshire, England, before being transported by air ambulance to Harefield Hospital in Uxbridge. He died on July 22 at the age of 76, just over two weeks after his final solo performance at a massive all-star concert, which also featured the original lineup of Black Sabbath.
Ozzy was laid to rest on July 31 in a private ceremony at his estate. He was buried next to a lake, with a wreath that read “Ozzy f—ing Osbourn,” a fitting tribute. Around 110 guests attended the service, including his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, along with rock legends like Elton John, James Hetfield, Yungblud, Marilyn Manson, Zakk Wylde, and Corey Taylor.
The day before the private funeral, there was a public procession through Birmingham. The route included a stop at the Black Sabbath bench on the Black Sabbath bridge, where fans gathered to pay their respects. Video footage showed fans chanting “Ozzy! Ozzy!” as the hearse approached. Sharon Osbourne and her children visited the bench to see the tributes and left their own flowers wrapped in black paper. Before heading back to the motorcade, they flashed Ozzy’s signature peace sign to the fans lining the street.
