After more than 50 years, the 1973 Buckingham Nicks album is finally coming to streaming platforms, CDs, and vinyl. Music fans will soon be able to enjoy the remastered tracks that helped launch the careers of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. This rerelease is a great opportunity for longtime fans to reconnect with the duo’s early work and for new listeners to discover it.
The album was recorded at Sound City Studios, capturing the magic before Buckingham and Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975. Inside its tracks are the early versions of future hits, including “Crystal” and pieces that would evolve into “The Chain.” The excitement around this classic is growing, especially with social media bringing attention to the era. A powerful clip of Nicks performing “Silver Springs” from a 1997 show has resonated with millions on TikTok and Instagram.
In 1972, producer Keith Olsen welcomed the musicians into his Los Angeles home. They spent a year working on songs and recording four-track demos before Nicks suggested they move to LA. The studio was filled with talent, featuring Elvis’s rhythm section—Ron Tutt on drums and Jerry Scheff on bass. Guitarist Waddy Wachtel added his signature slide guitar sound, which would follow Nicks into her solo career.
In late 1974, Mick Fleetwood stumbled upon Sound City and was captivated by the song “Frozen Love.” When Bob Welch left Fleetwood Mac, Fleetwood knew exactly who to call. Despite Fleetwood Mac’s rising fame, the original album didn’t achieve success in 1973.
Starting October 1, fans can stream the 2025 remaster, made from the original studio recordings. A special vinyl pressing will also be released that day, bringing these lost sounds back to life.
