The Foo Fighters made a triumphant return to Mexico City on Friday, Nov. 14, for the 15th edition of the Corona Capital festival. This marked their first performance with Ilan Rubin as their new drummer, and the band delivered an impressive 120-minute set filled with hits from their 30-year career.
Fans were treated to classic tracks like “All My Life,” “The Pretender,” “These Days,” “My Hero,” “Learn to Fly,” and “Everlong.” The band also surprised the crowd with a cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” during their main stage performance.
Dave Grohl took a moment to connect with the audience, saying, “Ten years ago or 12 years ago, we came down to play a couple shows here, and it was those shows in Mexico City that helped us make our Sonic Highways TV series and record possible. So I want you guys to thank yourselves, Mexico City, for helping the Foo Fighters continue making music and doing what we love.”
The first day of Corona Capital attracted over 78,000 attendees, according to promoter Ocesa. The festival also featured performances from other popular acts, including Queens of the Stone Age, Franz Ferdinand, Garbage, Kaiser Chiefs, 4 Non Blondes, Jet, Lucy Dacus, and Bad Bad Hats.
For fans eager to catch the Foo Fighters live, stay tuned for updates on their future tour dates.
