Iron Maiden is celebrating a big milestone: their 50th anniversary! The band formed on December 25, 1975, when bassist Steve Harris put together the first lineup in London. To mark this special occasion, they are hitting the road with the “Run For Your Lives” world tour. The tour kicked off on May 27 in Budapest, Hungary, and will wrap up on November 1, 2026, in Santiago, Chile, covering Europe, North America, and Latin America.
Harris shared his thoughts on the anniversary, saying, “It’s pretty incredible when you think about it, but we don’t think about it too much.” He noted that the band doesn’t focus on the milestone as much as others do, like their management.
In addition to the tour, Universal Pictures Content Group is working on a documentary about Iron Maiden’s 50-year journey. The film will feature old footage and interviews with band members and other notable figures in rock and film.
When asked about retirement, Harris said, “I’m not thinking about retirement, but we all know that it’s coming at some point.” He stays active by playing football and tennis but acknowledges that life can be unpredictable.
Harris also mentioned that there are still a few countries they want to visit, including Bangkok, where a show was canceled due to a military coup. “Maybe one day we’ll drag the Iron Maiden plane out again to go and do them,” he said.
The band will return to Knebworth on July 11, 2026. Harris emphasized the importance of enjoying every moment on the road. “That’s why you’ve got to make the most of this while you can,” he said. Fans can check out all future tour dates online.
